About Peter Vitale

Born in New York City, Peter Vitale is one of the top photographers of interior architecture working in the United States today. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Queen's College in New York, where he studied art history and studio painting. Soon after graduating, he apprenticed with the world-renowned photographer Horst P. Horst and began freelancing for many prominent shelter magazines. His studies imparted a painterly quality to his photography, and he has a keen eye for composition and light. Peter is currently based in Los Angeles and serves clients worldwide.

Magazine Work

Peter's work has been featured in House Beautiful, Elle Decor, Milieu, Veranda, and The New York Times, and he was under contract to Architectural Digest for 10 years. During this time, he had the pleasure of working with many gifted designers, architects, and celebrities. His photographs have appeared in most of the major interior design publications, and he is extremely proud to hold the position of Editor at Large at the innovative and strikingly creative magazine Milieu.

Living Room



Peter's work has appeared in numerous books, including Historic Charleston, Southwest Style, Geronimo — Fine Dining in Santa Fe, The Divine Home, and My Passion for Design by Barbra Streisand. He also participated in a series for Tiffany & Company that included The Tiffany Wedding, written by John Loring and edited by Jacqueline Onassis.

Commercial Work

As a hospitality photographer, Peter contributes regularly to marketing and brand imaging for Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts worldwide, and he also had the distinct honor or recording the interior design evolution of the public rooms and private residence at the White House between the years of 2004 and 2009.
